Fora da Globo após quase 40 anos de trabalho na emissora, Sebastião Vasconcelos sentiu um golpe com sua demissão. O ator, que morreu em 2013
aos 86 anos, se entregou a uma forte depressão depois de ficar sem trabalho. “Ele se recusava a tomar os remédios e até a comer”, revelou Vilma
Costa, viúva do artista, meses antes da morte dele por parada cardiorrespiratória.
Lembrado por diversos papéis nas novelas como o Tio Abdul de O Clone (2001), Floriano de Mulheres de Areia (1993), João do Piano de Felicidade
(1991), Zé Esteves de Tieta (1989) e Sessé de Selva de Pedra (1986),Sebastião Vasconcelos participou de 25 tramas da Globo, além de séries e
minisséries.
Antes de encerrar a parceria de quase 40 anos na casa, o ator apenas havia atuado fora de lá em Tempo de Viver (1972), na TV Tupi (1950-1980) e em
Chapadão do Bugre (1988), na Band, além de sua estreia em Cabocla (1959), na extinta TV Rio (1955-1977).
Seu último trabalho no TV foi em ‘Os Mutantes’ na Record.
